Ears To The House was founded with a simple principle – to cover issues which aren’t being reported on elsewhere in the dance music world. Unlike the mainstream dance music press, we don’t kow-tow to the interests of corporate sponsors. Unlike the mainstream dance music press, we don’t have to keep artists, promoters, PR people and a whole army of people happy in order to keep our precious access.
In a nutshell, we write about whatever subjects we see fit, and we really don’t care if the powers that be don’t like it. Launched to the world under the Amateur’s House name in April 2021, this site’s slogan was “Writing the stuff about dance music others won’t” – and this remains a central premise today.
Our steadily growing, loyal team try to bring you news from the many angles in the dance music world that the press don’t usually bother to cover. This includes not only the bad, but the good too. Whilst much is bad about the dance music scene, much is good about it too – and it’s our promise to Ears To The House readers that we will do our utmost to highlight both.
If we like something or someone, we say so. If we don’t like something or someone, we say so. If we like a person who’s done something we don’t like, we say so. If we don’t like a person who’s done something we like, we say so. And if we don’t like a person who’s done something we don’t like, we say so.
And if that isn’t clear enough, let’s be blunt. We can’t be bought. We have no interest in currying favour with the dance music world’s leading players – they can have exactly the same treatment everyone else gets. Ears To The House has no agenda other than showing people different angles of the dance music world.
We will never hesitate to tell you what we think, but it will always be up to our readers to decide for themselves.
