Welcome to another instalment of DJs Playing Badly – our column where, each Sunday, we take a look at DJs who have committed some kind of fail. Perhaps a totally messed up mix transition or they’ve failed to create any kind of atmosphere. You get the idea.
This week, it’s the turn of Tale Of Us to sit in dance music’s ducking stool. The Italian duo, who specialises largely in making very boring music, were playing at Kappa Futur Festival recently – when they decided to stick an old record in which has come back into vogue recently.
Back in 1999, German producer Andre Tanneberger – known simply as ATB – released a not very good record called “9pm (Til I Come)”. It’s about the only thing he’s known for – something which does the talented man a great disservice. Anyway, Peggy Gou’s recent earworm release “Nanana” borrows a little from the song – so they decided to play the original.
Is it any good? Not really. Yet it still manages to be better than anything else played in the same set…
