Sounds shocking, right? It’s a message that a distributor has been sending around for the past few weeks. Spotify took a big chunk of songs offline at the start of the year after noticing that many of the streams were coming from dubious sources.
However, be under no illusion that this is anything new. Buying pools already exist that allow you to effectively buy your way to the top of the likes of Traxsource and Beatport. Ever wondered why some of the number one tracks are shit? That’s why.
