On the week that a judge told Citibank it couldn’t claim back $500million sent out in error, I go through the records that you’ll actually want to spend your money on!
Rocket Dubz Feat. Isla Jay – Crazy (Pogo House)
A few mixes of this have already been released in the past, but these ones were either held back until now or commissioned later. Pogo House boss Martin Depp turns in an almighty fine dub here. Jacques Waty and Mr Tune’s efforts aren’t to be sniffed at either, but it’s the dub all the way for me.
Innervisions Feat. Courtney Irish – Keep It Up (Catch 22)
Demarkus Lewis seems to have been taken on as the unofficial in-house Catch 22 remixer. What else could explain the fact he keeps turning up on the label? Thankfully, he always delivers the goods. The original is more on the tech house side, and Lewis keeps the vibe of the original whilst bringing in plenty of new things to the party.
Darren Studholme Feat. Sarah B – Pieces / Me You Her EP (Veksler)
Fresh from his latest bumper remix pack on Disco Balls comes this. I haven’t actually come across Sarah B before this, but I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on her name in the future. She can certainly sing! Mr Studholme delivers his smooth trademark house sound with clear Latin influences. For my tastes, the Soul Groove mix is my favourite. Much more of this kind of thing please, Mr Studholme.
