I was saddened to learn over the weekend of the death of Angel Moraes. From what I understand, his death was quite sudden and unexpected, although no cause is known at the time of writing.

He always struck me as one of those producers who put a lot of thought into the more sonic aspects of his work. Given that he custom designed numerous sound systems, this shouldn’t surprise. The chord progressions that he used on his records were not the most advanced in the world – but when they sounded as good as he got them to sound, you simply didn’t care.

He shall be missed terribly, but his music lives on.
