I’ve been asked in the past on my thoughts about piracy. It’s a subject I do certainly think about from time to time. I’m well aware that much of my music does appear on the file-sharing websites – these people would have been stuffed in the age of vinyl, wouldn’t they?

I’m not quite sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, I really don’t like it. It’s potentially depriving me of income, assuming of course that they’d actually have been prepared to pay for it in the first place. Despite what you may sometimes hear, music isn’t expensive nowadays. Singles used to be around £4 for a CD or cassette, and vinyl records could often sell for £6 each back in the 1990s.

Then again, complaining about piracy feels to me a bit pointless. It sounds to me like the captain of a ship complaining about the sea.

Not that I’m about to start thanking the pirates for their “support” of my music any time soon…
