Has Kerri Chandler been playing music to aliens again? Mystery as “flashing radio waves” are detected in space – and scientists aren’t sure what they’re coming from…

There’s a lot which this blog does well. Asking questions about the dance music world that no one else dares touch is one. Covering subjects you will not see beforehand elsewhere is another. But even I must concede that Amateur’s House can only do so much in regards to the topic of outer space.

But that won’t stop me from trying to help anyway. Today, one story you might have encountered in the news is that “flashing radio waves” have been detected in outer space – and they’re just 4,000 light years away. To provide some context, one light year is around 37,000 miles in size – so it’s not exactly around the corner we’re talking here.

Natasha Hurley-Walker of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research was quoted as saying “That was completely unexpected. It was kind of spooky for an astronomer because there’s nothing known in the sky that does that. And it’s really quite close to us – about 4000 lightyears away. It’s in our galactic backyard.”.

So what was it? Scientists suspect either a white dwarf or a neuron star – but this blog would humbly like to make a suggestion. Has anyone checked what Kerri Chandler’s been filling his day with today? You see, Chandler is a bit of a space boffin – he’s even a member of METI International.

Chandler also previously spoke about sending music up into space. So perhaps the man nicknamed Mr 6:23 decided this was the best way to utilise an otherwise quiet Wednesday – and that the “flashing radio waves” are, in fact, the aliens sending signs of approval back to the long-time house producer?

I’ve got to be the first to admit that this theory isn’t terribly likely to be correct – mostly because I’m the first one to broadcast the supposition. But if any scientists are out there reading this and are struggling to solve the mystery, Kerri Chandler might be able to help.

And besides, rumours that the radio waves are actually Defected boss Simon Dunmore yelling about the Jesus Loves UK Garage shirts being cursed are even less likely…
