Here’s Three They Made Earlier: 27th February 2023

It’s not often that we end up choosing three tracks from the same year for our regular Monday night column, but such is how it turned out this week. All of what you’re about to hear was released in the year 2005. The first of which was “Speechless”, produced by Oscar Fullone and Kasper Winding with vocals by Louise Norby. Signed to Crosstown Rebels before being licensed by Ministry of Sound’s Data imprint the following year…

Next is a man with a long list of impressive releases behind him – Quentin Harris. Hailing from Detroit, this is probably the song which got him noticed back in the day. It contains no vocals, and developed out of a sample of Thievery Corporation’s 2002 song “Resolution” – and bears many elements from Detroit techno’s book…

And finally for this week, a track we often think gets forgotten about in any discussion about Deep Dish – Ali Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi’s joint project for many years, and possibly one of the most successful in dance music history. This one features vocals by Anousheh Khalili. We’re not quite sure exactly what the song is meant to be about – but a lot of dance music classics tend to be that way…

More tunes next week…
