Here’s Three They Made Earlier: 6th March 2023

This week’s first track is the perfect example of the Wild Pitch sound in the 1990s, which DJ Pierre played a crucial role in developing. The template was usually straightforward enough – layer lots of elements together, bring them into the mix slowly and stir over roughly ten minutes to create hypnotic house music. Danell Dixon was the brains behind this one, even if Pierre’s influence is about as subtle as a brick…

Next up, it’s all the way back to 1992 for an interpretation of a rave classic which you might not have heard before. “You Gotta Believe” by Fierce Ruling Diva was a typical example of what was coming out of Denmark at the time – and someone somewhere had the idea to commission a then relatively unknown Moby to remix it. He did a few mixes, and this one is a little different, to say the least…

And finally this week, a track of two halves. Back in the days when Strictly Rhythm actually released new music, they put this one out by The Montanas and long-time DJ Roland Clark. “Music Talking” came with a mix by Fred Falke, but it’s this tech-inspired version by German groups D.O.N.S. and DBN which amuses us. It starts pretty boring, but bear with it – from around 4 minutes in, it starts to become very interesting…

More tracks next Monday…
