Clap for Divinity, anyone?

The difference between the USA and the UK was vastly illustrated to me the other day. Take a look at this picture.

This is a photo of Divinity. She is a dove who was previously owned by Prince. She died last week aged 28.

Looking at the coverage of this story online was revealing. The American outlets tended to have a more sympathetic angle on things, with one person on a Facebook commenting that the white feathered bird was “gone too soon”.

The mind boggles. In the meantime, what was the most popular sentiment on the social media platforms of British media? “This is what it’s like when doves die”.

Eloquent indeed.
