Juan Atkins calls off Friday’s live Cybotron London show…

Now how’s this for news? Juan Atkins was hoping to take the Cybotron Live show back on the road, with a series of shows lined up in London over the next few weeks – with the first of those due to take place tomorrow at Camden’s Jazz Cafe.

But the gig has now been cancelled. As a publication with a deep respect for Juan Atkins, this concerns us – so why is he staying away? Ears To The House sources claim it’s because Atkins isn’t in good health at the moment – and are denying suspicions it has anything to do with an offer by journalist Michael James to pay $1000 for footage of Atkins playing keys with his hands.

Whatever the reason, the aforementioned Mr James has now changed his offer – increasing it to $2000. Added onto this is an apparent offer by DJ Quincy Davis to match the original $1000 donation. Combined together, that’s the price of a small holiday paid for – just for filming footage on a smartphone.

We do, of course, wish Atkins gets better soon…
