Another Monday means two things for us at Ears To The House – the first of those being a whole new list of people inside the industry getting annoyed with us. The second, of course, is another edition of Here’s Three They Made Earlier – highlighting great dance music from across the decades.
This week’s selection is all from the vaults of Detroit house and techno in 1993. As much as we criticise Carl Craig on this site, there’s little point trying to deny that some of his early works were very good indeed. Here’s one of them – it’s his remix of “Domina” by Maurizio, a duo consisting of Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald…
Next up, it’s a record that we’re struggling to believe is 30 years old – it wouldn’t be remotely out of place in a set today. It’s Ears To The House favourite Thomas Barnett with a rather nice track called “Chasing Reality”…
Finally, for now, we suspect this one has been featured before in our column – but frankly, we don’t care. It’s Chez Damier and Stacey Pullen taking a plasticky sounding xylophone sound and having some fun with it. We’re also particularly impressed by the fact the song stops in the middle for a few seconds before resuming – why can’t producers use this technique today?
More selections next Monday…
