Remember the old days on Twitter? We certainly do – it was a time when DJs typically weren’t afraid to get into some pretty vicious arguments with their detractors. And one person who was frequently found fighting online was DJ Sneak, the self-declared Gangster of House.
He previously argued with Steve Angello, Tommie Sunshine, Joris Voorn, The Martinez Brothers, Seth Troxler and deadmau5 – and those are just the ones we could remember. Since then, he’s taken himself off Twitter and is generally only active on Instagram.
In a spare moment between smoking joints, endlessly cleaning his vinyl records and apparent BBQing, Sneak took the time yesterday to look at what his friend Derrick Carter had to say on the site. Carter was mocking Defected’s clickbait posts which are designed purely to maintain engagement – but he explained to someone commenting that he meant no malice.
Indeed, Defected boss Simon Dunmore himself commented on the post, and appeared to acknowledge the irony. Then DJ Sneak came along with this…
What could have brought this on? After all, Sneak hasn’t worked with Defected in a few years – his last outing on the label was “Who We Are”, a collaboration between himself, Armand Van Helden and Junior Sanchez in 2018. Other than this, Ears To The House knows of little else associating Sneak with the label.
Sensing, however, that things could turn ugly, Carter responded to the drama by turning the comments off on his post. Probably the most sensible thing in the circumstances…
