The whole team here at Ears To The House extends our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of Dom Phillips this evening. It has now been confirmed one of the two bodies found yesterday was indeed Phillips.

He was clearly an exceptionally talented and inquisitive journalist, with a diverse history. Phillips had moved to Brazil in 2007 and wrote on a freelancer basis for The Guardian newspaper. But in the dance music community, he’s probably best known for his time at Mixmag – starting out as assistant editor in 1991 and leaving the publication in 1999, overseeing coverage of a crucial period of dance music’s development.

Work on identifying the second body is still ongoing at the time of publication, but is believed to be Bruno Pereira – whom Phillips was travelling with in the country.
