As Ears To The House reported last week, Derrick May is due to appear at Croatia’s Future Scope festival on May 12th alongside Jeff Mills. We’re hoping to have a more detailed report on that particular one soon – amidst murmurs that some of the corporate sponsors are apparently uneasy with his inclusion on the lineup.
But it turns out – as Michael James exclusively revealed last night – that the Croatia date is just part of a series of European gigs in Derrick May’s diary. As James puts it, “a group of European men have decided that Derrick May has suffered enough and are determined to do all they can to shoehorn him back into demand”.
It’s all part of what is being ridiculously branded the “European Coming Back Tour” in an email leaked to James. But in a sign that all isn’t going to plan, only four dates of a potential ten have been filled. Six dates currently remain outstanding – and we can only imagine the faces of some of those who may have been approached with the opportunity to host The Derrick May Coming Back Tour.
More revealing is what doesn’t seem to be part of the tour. Such as an interview where May is forced, for the first time in three years, to face the multiple allegations of sexual abuse made against him. Are all of the women who have accused him really lying? Or does May have some other explanation for all this?
A comeback tour on the rocks, a website where almost 40% of its merchandise isn’t available – it’s not going very well for you, Derrick…
