Last summer, Mavi De Mars published a harrowing account where she claimed to have been raped in 2013 by Israeli DJ Guy Gerber. Mars further alleged she was given some kind of drug by Gerber before it happened – Gerber strongly denied the allegations and said he would be taking legal action.

Later that week, Island Hospitality Group confirmed that Gerber’s Rumors and Mirror Games events would not be returning “until the authorities rule on the matter”. And Gerber later confirmed that he would be pursuing a defamation case against Mars, who has refused to withdraw the allegations – Ears To The House understands that this case is ongoing.

However, Rumors parties have resumed – so what’s going on? Well, Ears To The House cannot emphasise strongly enough that the current incarnation of the Rumors event has absolutely nothing to do with Island Hospitality Group. They have stood entirely by their word and are not currently hosting the parties.

Instead, they’re now taking place at Playa Soleil, a new beach club on Ibiza, which launched recently. The new venue is the result of a collaboration between Ushuaïa Entertainment, the Alonso Marí Group, and Vivir Descalzo – which means some seriously big money has been thrown at this.

Was this the reason why Playa Soleil agreed to host Gerber’s Rumors parties? The venue themselves haven’t responded to queries from Ears To The House on the subject, but a highly connected source in Ibiza tells us “It’s entirely possible. Despite the stuff going on in the background, Guy Gerber is a reliable name who sells tickets and brings in the punters.”.

It’s a decision which hasn’t been universally accepted, however. A number of the comment threads underneath posts about Rumors on social media feature some backlash – mostly of a potentially defamatory nature which we can’t publish here…
